5.1 Explanation

Proof-of-Stake (PoS) is designed to quickly confirm the current sequence generated by Checkers, for voting and selecting the next Checker, and for punishing any misbehaving Verifiers. The algorithm depends on the message eventually reaching all participating nodes within a specific timeout period.
